## Rules questions

### If I look at a New Growth pile and don't want it, what exactly happens when I pass?

If you pass on a pile you return it facedown, add the top card of the Current Season deck face-down onto that pile, and then proceed to the next pile; you may not later choose a pile you passed on (see page 3).

### Do I have to take every card in a New Growth pile I choose?

Yes — when you select a pile you must take all of the cards in that pile and place them face-up into your Forest (see page 3 and clarifications on page 5).

### When I add a Drought or Disease to my Forest, when do they take effect?

Drought resolves immediately: when added you must immediately discard one other card from your Forest and then discard the Drought (page 3 and page 5); Disease is checked at end of the Season — one Disease does nothing, two causes you to lose two Wildlife, and three or more spreads to affect both players (pages 5 and 4).

### How do Seeds work — how many cards do I draw and how many can I keep?

At the end of the Season, if you have any Seed cards you draw 3 cards from the Seed deck (plus 1 extra drawn for each Fire in your Forest), and you may keep up to one card for each Seed you have before discarding the Seeds (see page 4 and page 5).

### How do Roots/Trunks and Canopies score, and what if I don't have a trunk for a Canopy?

When you add a Root/Trunk card you must immediately declare whether it is a Root or a Trunk; Canopies must be played on top of a Root/Trunk or they are discarded, and completed Trees score their Trunk values plus Canopy points (the Canopy awards 0–2 points per Trunk beneath it); incomplete Trees score nothing (see page 4).
