## Rules questions

### How many times can I roll or reroll my dice on my Offensive Roll?

You get up to three rolls total: an initial roll of all five dice and up to two optional rerolls, each time rerolling any number of dice you choose (p.7).

### When can I play Upgrade cards and the different types of Action cards?

Hero Upgrade cards may only be played during Main Phase (1) or Main Phase (2); Action cards depend on their icon—Instant cards may be played any time (including to interrupt most actions), Main Phase cards only on your Main Phases, and Roll Phase cards only during Offensive/Targeting/Defensive Roll Phases (p.5, p.7).

### If an attack is labeled 'undefendable' or 'pure', can the defender still roll their Defensive Ability?

No — undefendable and pure damage are not defendable, so the Defender may not activate a Defensive Ability against those attacks; a Defensive Ability only applies if the Attack's damage type is defendable (p.3, p.6).

### Can I use Instant Action cards or other reactions to stop an Ultimate after it's been activated?

No — an Ultimate's activation cannot be interrupted or prevented once it is activated; the only way to stop an Ultimate is to alter the relevant die roll before the Ultimate is activated (though Instant cards can interrupt most other actions) (p.3, p.5).

### How do Status Effects stack, persist, or get removed — and when can I spend them?

Status Effects are placed as tokens on a Hero Board and may have a Stack Limit that caps how many can be applied; Persistent effects remain until removed or the game ends; Spendable status effects can be spent at any time during any phase and their effects are immediate, and removed tokens are returned to the leaflet (p.4).
