## Rules questions

### Can I use any die as a coin instead of its normal action, and when can I do that?

Yes — at any time you may gain 1 coin instead of using a die for its normal action; this applies both to the die you select on your turn and to the lone remaining die used by all players (see p.4). Note that some Wharf buildings (e.g., Bait Shop) modify how coins from using a die work (see p.5).

### Do license bonuses stack if I activate multiple licenses of the same type?

No — activating a later license of the same type replaces the earlier bonus (they are not cumulative); additionally, when you activate the second license of a type you immediately gain 2 coins, and level‑3 licenses are worth VPs at game end (see p.4).

### When do my launched boats catch fish — every round or only sometimes?

Launched boats catch fish only during the Fishing Phase, which occurs on even‑numbered rounds; each launched boat catches 1 fish (Oyster boats catch 2) and full boats do not catch more (see p.3 and Oyster details on p.4). Note some Harbor ships (e.g., Captain’s Club or Barge) create personal or additional fishing effects (see p.5).

### Can I skip boxes or choose a lower box when filling in a boat, license, building, or other section?

No — whenever you fill in a box you must fill the topmost open box in that section; you may not skip boxes (the Golden Rules, p.3).

### What does a star action do and when do I resolve it?

Filling a star box on the coin track triggers an immediate star action that lets you fill any topmost open box anywhere on your score sheet (and carry out its activation if applicable); if a star is triggered during the Fishing Phase, resolve it after all fishing is completed (see p.4).
