## Rules questions

### How many cards do we remove from the draw pile for the solo 'Alone in the Forest' setup?

Return cards to the box as for a 2-player game: Base game → 30 cards; Alpine → 55 cards; Alpine + Woodland Edge → 90 cards (see page 2).

### When Anna removes cards from the clearing, do I have to close the gaps or leave spaces?

Always close any gaps in the clearing by sliding cards together without changing their order, regardless of whose turn it is (see page 5).

### What does Anna (the Automa) do on her turn—how are the Automa card actions resolved?

Reveal the top Automa card and perform its action: add the indicated number of cards (always to the right), remove the indicated number from the clearing from the stated side (remove as many as possible if there are fewer), or look at the top draw card and return it to the box (see page 4).

### If I pass a challenge, can I save it and does it still count later?

Yes; if you pass a challenge you may place it behind the corresponding divider card to save your progress for later games, and passing requires meeting both the challenge goal and the chosen minimum score at game end (see page 6).

### If we use special caves, do they replace the base caves and how do they score?

Special caves replace the base game caves: after dealing, place five cave cards and each player picks one in reverse order; each cave still scores 1 per card in it plus whatever additional points or permanent effects the cave grants (see pages 7–8).

### How should I add new and rare cards, and what is the even-distribution option?

Shuffle the new and rare cards you want to include into the deck, then return the required number of cards to the box plus one extra card per new/rare used; alternatively, for even distribution you may deal 2 random new/rare cards to each player at the start, in which case players start with 8 cards (see page 9).
