## Rules questions

### How many kid and dog cards do we start with?

Each player starts with 5 kid cards, 3 dog cards, and their 2 Best Friends—not 8 kid cards. In Advanced Setup, draft the 3 dog and 5 kid cards together, excluding the Best Friends (p. 2).

### What happens to dogs in my Yard at the start of my turn?

Dogs in your Yard go to the discard pile of the player on your left, not your own discard pile (p. 3).

### Can I play a dog like a kid, and can I follow its action?

Instead of playing a kid, you may play a dog if you fulfill the need shown above its action box; the dog’s action cannot be followed. Dogs generally end by being tucked under your doghouse (p. 3–4).

### Can I use dogs in my hand for actions, and can I put them in my Lookout?

You may discard a dog from your hand to add its suit to your own action or to follow the leader, and it goes to your own discard pile. Dogs cannot be trashed or put in your Lookout (p. 4).

### When do cat powers happen, and can I play or discard a cat?

Cats cannot be played, discarded, or trashed; each has a triggered power that happens at the specified time. “Before you play a card” means immediately before playing it, and multiple such powers may be used in any order (p. 6).

### When do cats move to another player, and how are they scored?

At the end of your turn, check whether you attract cats on the table; count coins as coins, not as other suits. At game end, 1, 2, 3, or 4 cats score 1, 3, 6, or 10 points respectively, and a cat moves away if another player fulfills its condition (p. 7).
