## Rules questions

### When do I have to feed my workers, and what if I can't pay?

You pay the food shown on the current Round card at the end of each round when the Round card is resolved; Francs can be used 1:1 in place of food (see pages 8 and 5). If you cannot pay you must use all your food and money and only then may you take loan cards to cover the shortfall; loans and their end‑game penalties are described on page 10.

### Do I have to do the Supply action and place my ship even if I don't want the new offers?

Yes — each turn begins with the mandatory Supply action in which you place your ship marker on the next free Supply tile and add the two tokens shown on that tile to the Offer spaces (page 4). Placing a ship on the seventh Supply tile also triggers the end of the round (page 4).

### Can I pay building entry fees with food or money interchangeably, and do I pay to myself?

Entry fees must be paid before entering a building and are paid in either food or Francs as shown (if a fee is shown as food/Francs you choose one), and Food may always be replaced 1:1 with Francs while Francs cannot be replaced with food; you do not pay an entry fee to enter your own building (page 5).

### If I sell a building or ship, how much do I get and when may I sell?

Buildings and ships sold to the town return half their printed value, and you may sell them even during another player's turn provided that player is not in the middle of an action (page 6).

### Can I take a loan whenever I want, and what are the costs?

You may not take loans voluntarily simply to invest — you may only take loans if you cannot pay interest or the feeding cost after spending all your food and money; each loan gives you 4 Francs, costs 5 Francs to repay, and deducts 7 Francs at game end for each outstanding loan (pages 10 and 4).
