## Rules questions

### Can I place my Family Member in a space that already has someone else's token?

It depends on the area: the Market and Council Palace allow any number of Family Members (including same colors) (see page 9); towers allow multiple players but you must pay 3 coins if the tower already contains any Family Member and no two Family Members of the same color may be in the same tower (uncolored neutral members are treated as neutral) (see page 7); Harvest/Production left spaces hold only one Family Member while the right space can hold many, but you may not place two of your colored Family Members in the two action spaces of each area (you may place a colored and an uncolored) (see page 8).

### How do servants work to increase a Family Member's value?

Before placing a Family Member you may spend servants to increase its value at a 1:1 rate with no limit (for example spending 3 servants raises value by 3), and colored Family Members use the rolled die value while neutral members start at 0 (see page 4).

### If I place on the 3rd/4th floor of a tower, do I get the floor bonus and can I use that bonus to pay the card's cost?

Yes — when you place a Family Member on the third or fourth floor you immediately receive the depicted bonus and you may use that bonus to help pay the cost of the card you take (see page 7).

### When I do a Harvest or Production, which of my Territories/Buildings activate?

Harvest/Production activate your personal bonus plus the permanent effects of only those Territory/Building cards whose activation value is equal to or lower than your action value, and resources used for exchange effects must already be in your supply before starting the activation (see page 8).

### What happens during the Vatican Report — do I lose Faith if I support the Church, and what if I don’t have enough Faith?

If you have at least the required Faith you may choose to support the Church: you spend all your Faith to gain the Victory Points shown for your current Faith step and then move your marker back to the first step; if you don’t have the required Faith (or you choose not to support) you suffer excommunication by placing a cube on that period’s Excommunication Tile and suffer its negative effects while keeping your Faith markers where they are (see page 10).

### How and when can I play or activate Leader cards in the advanced game?

You may play a Leader card whenever you satisfy its requirements (requirements are not costs and need only be true when playing the card), you may play or discard Leaders during the Actions phase as special instant actions (discarding grants a Council Privilege), and Once-Per-Round Leader abilities are activated by turning the Leader face down when used and are reset at round end (see page 12).
