## Rules questions

### Can I move or rotate cards after I play them?

No — once played cards stay where they are for the whole game and you may not move or rotate them; grounds and observations are placed vertically and landscapes/discoveries horizontally (see page 8).

### How do observation card requirements work — can I cover a symbol and still use others?

If a card has one requirement you must play it on a card showing that symbol, and if it has multiple requirements you must have all required symbols visible in your meadow but may choose which one to cover when placing the card; a covered symbol cannot be used again (see page 9).

### Can I discard 2 cards to ignore any requirement (like road or tree)?

You may discard 2 cards from hand to ignore one missing requirement symbol, but you cannot use this to ignore a road token requirement or the 🌳 (tree) requirement for discovery cards (see pages 10–11).

### How do road tokens work when I play a landscape card?

To play a landscape you must also place one of your unused road tokens beneath it and flip that token so the road side is no longer visible (marking it used); the other required symbols must be visible but are not consumed (see pages 10–11).

### What does the “?” path token do on the main board and campfire board?

On the main board the ? token lets you choose any number 1–4 when counting spaces to take a card, and on the campfire board placing the ? token lets you take any special action available there (see pages 7 and 12).

### How do I get my starting 5 cards — do I pick rows or get a random deal?

Normally players pick a full row (4 cards) from the main board in turn and then draw one card from the unused N deck to make five, but for your first game you may instead be dealt a suggested random starter of 1 W, 2 S, 1 E and 1 N (see page 6).
