## Rules questions

### When I 'Burn' a metal, do I flip it permanently or discard it — how do Flaring and Refreshing work?

When you Burn a metal you flip that metal token or card to show it’s spent; a flared metal stays flipped until you refresh it, and you refresh metals by discarding a card of that metal (or via a specific refresh effect). Atium has special restrictions on when it can be refreshed or used. (Rulebook, pp.7–9)

### If a card tells me to 'eliminate' it, where does it go — is that the same as discarding?

Eliminate means the card is removed from the game and placed in the elimination pile, not put into your discard; if a card says “resolve + eliminate” you resolve its effect and then send it to the elimination pile. (Rulebook, pp.6, 10, 13)

### Do Allies only work when played or do they stick around, and how does their Defense interact with attacks?

Allies are placed in your play area and remain as persistent effects unless removed, and some have one-shot triggers when played while others are ongoing; an ally’s Defense value can absorb incoming damage and may act as a DEFENDER to intercept attacks according to the combat rules. (Rulebook, pp.10–11, 15)

### In a 3–4 player game, who can I target when I attack?

In 3–4 player games you must choose a target according to the Target mechanic before resolving an attack; attacks affect the declared target and interact with that player’s allies/DEFENDER as described in the Target rules. (Rulebook, pp.15–16)

### How do Missions work — when do I get mid/top rewards and how is finishing order determined?

You set up three mission tracks and advance cubes along each track; when your cube reaches the mid and top spaces you take the listed mid/top rewards, and the player who reaches the final space first claims the finish reward with finishing order determining later bonuses. (Rulebook, p.14)

### What do the Character Training-track boxes do when I advance — do I get the benefits immediately?

When you advance on your character’s Training track you immediately receive the listed benefits (extra Burns, unlocked abilities, Atium tokens, ongoing effects, etc.), and some steps change your once-per-turn options as noted on the character card. (Rulebook, pp.12–13)
