## Rules questions

### Do I have to follow suit when playing a card?

Yes — the first card played sets the leading suit and each player must play a card of that suit if they have one; a player who cannot is "void" and may play any card (p.6–7).

### Can someone lead a trick with a Prince card?

Normally no — Princes cannot be used to start a trick; however, if a player who is void plays a Prince (the Frog doesn't count) then Princes may be led for the rest of that round, and a starting player may lead Princes only if their entire hand is Princes (p.7).

### When and how can I use my Princess's power?

You may use your Princess power at most once per round while the card is active: announce it and rotate the Princess card 90° to show she is exhausted; exhausted Princesses are reactivated at the end of the round (p.8, p.15).

### How do marriage proposals score — what's the Frog worth?

Each Prince card scores 1 proposal; the Frog (Pet suit number 8) counts as five proposals, and any card with a diamond icon adds the indicated proposal value — tally all proposals and record them on the scorepad (p.8; example p.9).

### Can I look through tricks a player has won before the round ends?

No — the winner takes tricks face down in front of them and those won tricks cannot be consulted until the end of the round (p.7).

### When do round-card exchanges happen and do round cards override basic rules?

At the start of each round you flip that round card and perform its indicated simultaneous card exchange before play begins; round-card effects take precedence over the basic rules (p.6, p.10).
