## Rules questions

### Can my ship move through or end its movement overlapping another ship or squadron?

A ship cannot finish its movement overlapping another ship; its speed is temporarily reduced by 1 and it retries until it can finish or its speed is reduced to 0, and after moving both the moving ship and the closest ship it overlapped each receive one facedown damage card (Rulebook, pp. 17–18). If a ship ends on top of one or more squadrons, the ship finishes normally and the non‑moving player places the overlapped squadrons so their bases touch the ship (Rulebook, p. 17).

### How do defense tokens work — can I use more than one or stack the same type in one attack?

After the attacker resolves accuracy results, the defender may spend one or more defense tokens but cannot spend more than one token of the same type or the same individual token more than once in that attack; spending a readied token flips it to exhausted and spending an exhausted token discards it, and exhausted tokens are readied in the Status Phase (Rulebook, p. 14). Also, a ship with speed 0 cannot spend defense tokens (Rulebook, p. 14).

### How do I pick which hull zone to attack and what dice can I roll at different ranges?

The attacker declares an attacking hull zone and then a defending hull zone that must be inside the attacking zone’s firing arc and at the proper attack range measured with the range side of the range ruler; the range band determines which colors of attack dice are available (e.g., at long range only red dice) (Rulebook, pp. 13–14).

### How do I trace line of sight — do squadrons and ships use different points, and what causes an obstruction penalty?

Line of sight to or from a squadron is traced to the point on its base closest to the target, while line of sight to or from a ship’s hull zone is traced from the yellow targeting point printed in that hull zone; if the LOS to a defending hull zone passes through any other hull zone on that same ship there is no LOS (Rulebook, p. 19). If LOS is traced through obstacles or other ships/squadrons (neither attacker nor defender), the attack is obstructed and the attacker rolls one fewer die of his choice (Rulebook, pp. 19–20).

### What does revealing a command dial let me do, and how do command tokens work?

When you reveal a ship’s command dial during the Command/Ship sequence it grants the ship the listed command effect (e.g., Navigate, Squadron, Repair, Concentrate Fire), and you may spend that dial to place the matching command token next to the ship to use later (Rulebook, pp. 7, 12). A ship may have up to a number of command tokens equal to its command value and may not have more than one copy of each type of command token (Rulebook, p. 12).
