## Rules questions

### Do I have to pay salary for workers that are locked, and what happens if I can't pay?

Yes — you must pay the combined salaries for all your workers (locked or unlocked); for each cacao you can't or won't pay you lose 3 VP (you can never go below zero VP). (page 19)

### Can I use resources I just gained during an action to pay a cost required for that same action?

You must pay any costs required to start the action up front, but resources gained in one step of a multi-step action can be used to pay later costs to continue that action; you cannot use a direct result of an effect to pay the initial cost listed. (pages 20–21)

### If my worker is on a Worship (key) space, can I move it on my turn?

No — a worker on a Worship space is locked and cannot be moved; you may unlock all locked workers by paying 3 cacao (not an action) or by spending your entire turn to unlock them for free, sliding them to the general area. (page 11)

### If a worker ascends or someone completes the Pyramid and the light marker reaches the dark marker, do we stop immediately?

When the light marker reaches the dark marker an Eclipse is triggered, but you do not stop immediately: resolve turns so all players have equal turns and then play one more full round before resolving the Eclipse (Ascension can advance the light marker — see ascension step). (pages 17, 18)

### Can I take the Decorations or Construction main action if I can't legally place a Decoration or Pyramid tile?

No — you cannot choose the main action on Decorations or Construction if it is impossible for you to legally add the required tile (you may still take the action if you are simply at the end of your Pyramid track). (pages 16–17)
