## Rules questions

### Do shipping connections count as adjacency when I place a Dwelling?

No — to build a Dwelling the space must be adjacent (without Shipping) to one of your Structures; Shipping does not count as adjacency (see page 5). Built Bridges, however, make the two connected spaces directly adjacent (see page 9).

### How do the Bowls of Power work — which bowl can I spend from and how do tokens move?

You may only spend Power tokens that are in Bowl III; when you gain Power you move tokens from Bowl I → II → III, and when you spend Power you move them from Bowl III back to Bowl I (page 5). Power actions on the board also require moving tokens from Bowl III to Bowl I, and certain Cult advances grant Power (page 7).

### Can I do Conversions (Power → Priest/Worker/Coin) anytime or are they an Action?

Conversions are not your Action and may be performed any number of times before or after your Action on your turn (page 7).

### How is a Town founded, and do Rivers or Bridges affect that?

A Town is founded automatically when at least 4 directly adjacent Structures of one color (only 3 if one is a Sanctuary) have a combined Power value of at least 7 (page 8). Bridges count toward adjacency for founding Towns whereas indirect adjacency via Shipping/river does not, though the Mermaids can ignore one River space when founding a Town (page 8) and Bridges are created by a Power action (page 9).

### When do we pick Bonus cards and what are the coins on leftover Bonus cards for?

At setup each player chooses a Bonus card (in reverse turn order) and at the end of each round leftover Bonus cards each receive 1 Coin to make them more attractive later (page 5). When you pass you immediately return your Bonus card and take one of the three available for the next round (page 8).

### If I pass, do I become the next round’s Starting player — can someone get two turns in a row?

Yes — the first player to pass becomes the Starting player for the next round and takes the Starting player token, and because you immediately return and take a Bonus card for the next round when passing, this can result in another player taking two turns in a row (page 8).
