## Rules questions

### When do I put the yellow and purple ingredient books out?

Start the game with only the green, blue and red books; put the yellow book out before Turn 2 and the purple book out before Turn 3 (see pages 2 and 7).

### How do the rats work — when do I place a rat stone and how far does it move?

Rats come into play starting on the 2nd round: after the Fortune Teller card is read, each player (except the current leader) counts rat-tails between them and the leader and places their rat stone that many spaces ahead of their droplet (page 3).

### What makes my pot explode — do colored chips count toward an explosion?

A pot explodes when the sum of the values on your white chips exceeds 7; colored chips are not counted toward this total (page 4).

### Can I use my flask to put back the last chip if that chip made my pot explode?

No — you may use the flask to return the last drawn white chip to your bag only if the last chip did not cause an explosion; the flask cannot be used if the last chip caused the pot to blow up (page 5).

### If my pot explodes, do I still roll the Bonus Die, get rubies, and buy chips?

A player whose pot exploded does not roll the Bonus Die (Evaluation A), but players still receive any rubies shown on their scoring space (Evaluation C); exploded pots must then choose between Evaluation D (taking the victory points shown) or E (taking the coin value of the scoring space to buy chips) (pages 5–7).
