## Rules questions

### Can I claim a route as soon as I have the right cards?

Usually, no: most routes are Track Beds and must be built before they can be claimed. Only one-space routes and grey routes that are already built may be claimed immediately (p. 3).

### If I draw Train Car cards, do I also have to build a route?

Yes. When you choose “Draw Train Car Cards and Build a Route,” you draw cards using the normal rules and then place one available Track Piece on a Track Bed route of the same length; the piece determines that route’s color (p. 2).

### What happens to the Track Piece when I claim a built route?

Remove the Track Piece from the board and return it to the supply, where it can be chosen again later. Then place your train cars on the claimed route as usual (p. 3).

### Can I build a route that crosses another route or a Track Piece?

No. You cannot place a Track Piece on top of, underneath, or through another Track Piece or a claimed route. Building one crossing route may permanently make other crossing routes unavailable (p. 3).

### How do Double and Triple Routes work with different player counts?

With 2–3 players, only one route in a Double or Triple Route may be built or claimed; once one is claimed, the others are locked. With 4–5 players, each track must still be built separately, although all tracks may be used and the same player may not claim more than one of them (pp. 2–3).

### How many Destination Tickets do I keep, and can I return them later?

During setup, each player receives 5 tickets and must keep at least 3, returning the others to be shuffled under the deck (p. 2). During the game, draw 4 tickets and keep at least 1; returned tickets go to the bottom of the deck (p. 3).
