## Rules questions

### Do I have to move the exact number shown on the die, or can I move fewer spaces?

You must move the exact number shown on the die when you use it; exceptions are specific Wave tiles which let the Pilgrim move one space more or one space fewer than the die (still at least 1), and the Hot Spring lets you use the same die a second time but that extra move must also be the die’s exact value (see pages 2 and 4).

### When I take the Artist 'Paint' action, how many Painting tiles do I reveal?

Reveal as many face‑down Painting tiles from your Artist board as there are other characters in your Artist’s area, including any characters on the surrounding stations and Mountain towns; reveal tiles left‑to‑right and reveal all remaining if you don’t have enough (see page 3).

### Can I gift any of my revealed Painting tiles or only a specific one?

You may only gift the topmost, leftmost revealed Painting tile and only if its icon matches the arrival area’s icon; you can remove only one Painting tile per Gift action, and removing your last Painting tile triggers the end of the game (see page 3).

### What happens if I draw more Wares than my Merchant can hold?

You may draw more than five Ware tokens, but you may only keep up to five on your Merchant board at the end of the action — choose which to keep and return the rest to the bag; the Robust Merchant Wave tile can raise capacity to six, but losing that Wave while holding six forces you to immediately return one (see pages 3–4).

### Can two meeples occupy a Coastal town?

No; Coastal towns can host only one character meeple at a time (this can be a Merchant or a Pilgrim), so a Merchant cannot move to a Coastal town that is already occupied (see page 3).

### When and how can I use the Hot Spring token?

You cannot use the Hot Spring token the turn you take it; on a later action you may spend it to use the die you just chose a second time (move and resolve the arrival action again using the same die value), then return the token to the board — note that an opponent who lands on the Hot Spring station will immediately take the token from you (see page 4).
