## Rules questions

### Can we spread the whole deck faceup on the table so everyone can search at once?

No — players cannot spread out the deck on the table; you must either designate one player to search or split the facedown deck among players (but not lay all cards out) (page 2).

### How do I combine two objects — can I add any two numbers together?

You combine objects by adding their red and blue numbers together and then revealing the card that matches that sum; the golden rule is that a red number can only be combined with a blue number (and vice versa), other combinations are not allowed (pages 4 and 8).

### What are modifiers (the + numbers) and how do I use them?

Modifiers are +numbers (red or blue) that never correspond to a card by themselves and must be added to the opposite-color number per the golden rule; treat them as the added value when searching for the result card (page 5).

### How do I use a machine card — do I solve it on the table or in the app?

Machine (green) cards are handled through the app: enter the card number (or the number under a letter) and the app will display the machine interface and guide the steps; misuse can cause time penalties (pages 5 and 7).

### What does it mean when a card shows crossed-out numbers or letters at the top — do we keep those cards?

Crossed-out numbers or letters indicate the corresponding cards must be immediately discarded because they will not be used again in the adventure (page 4).
