## Rules questions

### Can I place all three Assistants into the same area during the Placement step?

No. On your Placement step you must choose either (a) place 1 Assistant into three different areas or (b) place 2 Assistants into the same area; you may place 1, 2 or 3 Assistants in total but not three into one area (page 5).

### Can I place Assistants from my Warehouse tile or from Management boards?

No — Assistants placed during the Placement step must come from your hand; you may not place Assistant pawns from the Warehouse tile or the Management boards (page 4–5).

### If there is a President pawn in an area where I place an Assistant, do I have to pay that player?

Yes. For each Assistant you place in an area containing another player’s President pawn you must pay 1 Yen to the owner of each President pawn in that area, and if you cannot pay you may not place the Assistant there (page 5).

### When my President pawn is in my hand, can I put it anywhere on the board during the Movement step?

No. You may place your President pawn from your hand only onto a "Possible Action Area," which must contain at least one of your Assistant pawns and must not contain any other players’ President pawns (page 6).

### How is Power for an Area Action calculated and is there a maximum?

Power is 1 for your President pawn, 1 per Assistant pawn, and 1 each for Shophouse, Trading House and Station tokens; totals of 6 or more are treated as a maximum of 5 (pages 6–7).

### After resolving the Area Action, can I leave some Assistants there or must I take them back?

You must take all Assistant pawns from the Area where you carried out the Area Action and return them all to your hand — no Assistants on that Area remain for you (Pawn Recovery step, page 7).
