Players navigate a tense contest of cat-and-mouse movement, deciding when to attack, hold, retreat, or stand firm while uncertainty about enemy numbers and positions shapes every operation. The Union side must advance decisively, while the Confederate side combines maneuver, bluff, and nerve to delay and disrupt the campaign. Combat and battlefield decisions remain subject to the fortunes of war.
