Aspern-Essling 1809

This two-day simulation covers the Battle of Aspern-Essling, fought on May 21–22, 1809, as French forces attempted to secure a bridgehead across the Danube while facing the Austrian army under Archduke Charles. Players command French and Austrian regiments and brigades across a 330-meter-per-hex map, directing attacks, managing command structures, and responding to the crucial condition of the bridges between Lobau and the left bank. Each turn represents 90 minutes of battle. Special rules portray the French command situation under Masséna and Lannes, as well as the delays and interruptions caused by damaged bridges and limited reinforcements.
