Six cardinals gather in the Sistine Chapel after the mysterious death of Pope Celestine, each seeking election as the next pope. Players use persuasive speeches, malicious rumors, poison, arrests, and other underhanded tactics to undermine their rivals while navigating the threat of invasion from the ambitious Holy Roman Emperor outside the city. The setting includes character material, player cards, and humorous taglines for repeated games of political intrigue and sudden reversals.
