Chaos in the Old World: The Horned Rat Expansion

Adds a fifth faction that represents an underground horde of skaven plotting to overwhelm the surface world. The new faction deploys large numbers of weak units, uses subterfuge and spread to score corruption, and brings a different playstyle focused on swarming and disruption. Includes an alternate card set for the existing powers, with new upgrade and Chaos cards that change available actions and interactions. Also provides expert-level Old World cards and optional gameplay variants to increase challenge and variety for experienced groups.

Rules questions

Answered from the rulebook by Ludoya's rules assistant.

Do unused power points carry over to the next round?

No. During each Draw Phase, reset your power marker to the highlighted value on your Power sheet, modified only by applicable upgrades; unused power points never carry over. (Rulebook, p. 11)

Can I summon a figure anywhere on the board?

Normally, you may summon a figure only in a region where you already have a figure or in a region adjacent to one of your figures. Your first figure may be placed in any region, and moving a figure already on the board still counts as summoning it. (Rulebook, pp. 11–12)

Do I have to play all my battle dice, and do sixes do anything special?

You must roll all battle dice you are entitled to roll. Results of 4, 5, or 6 score hits, and every 6 explodes, allowing you to roll another die; additional sixes can continue exploding without limit. (Rulebook, p. 15)

Can different players combine their hits to kill the same enemy figure?

No. A player cannot assign fewer hits than needed to kill a figure and leave the remainder for another player to combine later; excess hits without legal targets are lost. (Rulebook, p. 17)

Does a Greater Daemon count more than a Cultist when determining domination?

No. Domination value equals the number of your figures in the region plus the printed costs of your Chaos cards there; every figure counts as one, regardless of its type or summoning cost. You dominate only if your value is strictly higher than every opponent's and exceeds the region's Resistance. (Rulebook, p. 19)

What changes after a region is ruined?

No new Chaos cards or Old World tokens may be placed there, no domination or corruption tokens are added there, and no domination points are scored there. Battle still occurs, and the region remains adjacent to other regions. (Rulebook, p. 25)
