This bestiary presents creatures from Chinese mythology, drawn from its deserts, mountains, river valleys, forests, and imperial cities. Entries range from benevolent celestial and sea dragons to jiang-shi vampires, terra-cotta soldiers, foo lions, flying monkeys, and composite creatures such as the yaoguai and jinmeju. The collection includes the powerful nian, which appears at the turn of the year, along with monsters ranging from minor threats to apocalyptic beings. It also provides artifacts and fantastic feats associated with the imperial dragons, suitable for mythic and non-mythic heroes.
