Darkest Night

Players cooperatively control the last heroes of a kingdom under a necromancer’s shadow, each character bringing unique abilities and roles. The group explores the realm to find equipment, new powers, and the keys needed to unlock holy relics while confronting spreading blight and undead forces. A threat tracker grows each round as the necromancer strengthens, generating blights that can overrun regions and ultimately threaten the central monastery. Victory comes by either collecting three holy relics and returning them to the monastery to perform a ritual, or by confronting and defeating the necromancer in direct combat.

I love the theme and the dark/medieval art of the game. A remarkable point of the game is that it works well at 1, 2 or 4 players. The mechanics, despite being simple and dice-based, allows options and decisions. The characters are the most charismatic I've ever seen on a board game. The narrative, unlike other games, does not lie on illogical and heavy card texts, but it gets developed during the gameplay by the players' actions. It is tense and emotional until the final confrontation. The only flaw, in my opinion, is the length: 2,5 hours is too much for a game like this. With 1,5 hours or even 2 hours of gameplay it would have been perfect.
