In the dwarf-inhabited settlement of Hammerschlag, teams compete in a mine-cart race inspired by a famous thunderstorm race. What begins as a sporting contest soon becomes a game of intrigue, as honorable competitors, schemers, and villains pursue victory, a prize, and a sacred relic. The participants investigate their rivals, uncover deception, and use courage, tactical skill, and ingenuity to survive the dangerous race through the abandoned mine.
