While spending the summer with an uncle in Maine, a search for a sacred pine tree from an old legend leads to a terrifying discovery. After falling asleep beneath its branches, a reader awakens surrounded by six shadowy figures and must choose between drinking a deadly herbal brew or crossing burning coals. The story unfolds through choices as the legend becomes reality and survival depends on the path taken.
