Forest Shuffle: Alpine
Adds 36 new multifunctional cards, including two tree types, to be shuffled into the base deck to increase species variety and tactical options. Players draft and play cards to attract species into their forest, score points for valuable animals, and adapt to new card effects that modify base-game rules. Before play, cards are removed based on player count to keep balance above the tree line.

Do I shuffle the Alpine expansion into the base deck — and how many cards do we remove unseen for setup?
Shuffle the base game and expansion cards together, return 10 cards to the box unseen, then remove additional unseen cards so the final deck size matches player count: 2 players → 45 cards, 3 → 30, 4 → 15, 5 → none (page 2).
How many cards are in the Alpine expansion and how are they marked?
The expansion contains 36 cards, and all expansion cards show the new purple mountain (Alps) type symbol to mark them (pages 1, 4).
When I buy/play a Bearded Vulture, when do I place cards into my cave and how is it scored?
Use the Bearded Vulture’s effect after you have paid for it; it places cards into your cave (like Brown Bear and Raccoon), and each Bearded Vulture scores points equal to the number of cards in your cave (page 3).
Does the Mountain Hare share a card slot with European Hares, and how are they counted for scoring?
The Mountain Hare counts as a European Hare for scoring but it does not share its card slot with other Hares; Mountain and European Hares are scored together (page 3).
Do Oak and Strawberries still require 8 different tree species now that Alpine trees were added?
Yes — two new tree species (Alpine Larch and Swiss Pine) are added, but Oak and Strawberries still only require 8 different tree species (page 3).
Can I collect more butterflies with the Alpine expansion?
Yes — the Phoebus Apollo adds another butterfly to the game, so you can now collect up to 6 different butterflies (page 3).
