Set in an alternate 1990s, this world has been shaped by the assassination of Gorbachev and the emergence of Black Technology, including active camouflage and Arm Slaves—powerful combat mechs. These advances have become part of everyday military life while global tensions continue to grow. Players become involved in the coming shadow war between Mithril, a mercenary organization seeking to uphold justice, and Amalgam, a ruthless network of mercenaries and terrorists. Both sides pursue the Whispered, people with a mysterious connection to Black Technology.
