Gato Leader

A solitaire board game set during the Pacific submarine campaign of World War II. Players command groups of American submarines, choose patrol areas, sink Japanese shipping, undertake special missions, improve their boats, and manage crew stress across four campaigns. When a submarine encounters an enemy force, play shifts to a tactical display. Players close with merchant ships, identify targets, fire torpedoes or guns, and avoid escorting warships while dealing with dud torpedoes and other equipment problems. The game includes several submarine classes, including S, Narwhal, Permit, Salmon, Tambor/Gar, and Gato/Balao/Tench boats.
