In the town of Tristram, demonic and undead forces occupy the ancient cathedral, while a strange alien nest and a glowing crypt threaten the surrounding region. Players take the role of a hero exploring underground levels, battling monsters, gathering weapons and other equipment, and developing their character while seeking to defeat the forces beneath the town.
