They may serve the Cardinal, oppose the crown as Frondeurs, or pursue profit as merchant adventurers. The rules build on early fantasy roleplaying foundations with lifepaths, skills, social combat, and an ongoing search for truth. The revised edition includes rules for historical and fictional situations, along with character creation focused on unhappy and unlucky lives.
