Mistral covers the sea War of the Austrian Succession and the concurrent War of Jenkin's Ear, focusing on the western Mediterranean from 1739 to 1748. British and Bourbon fleets contest Spain's supply lines to its army in Italy while the French Toulon Fleet harasses British forces. This two-player strategy game assigns each side naval orders to fulfill amid event-driven developments in the wider war. Players organize ships into squadrons and flotillas, commit forces, conduct feints and attacks, and manage wear and battle readiness. Success earns Prestige and can affect the land campaign. Scenarios cover one year in 16 turns, while campaign games link multiple years.
