Next-Level Skill Checks
A rules supplement for making skill checks more consequential in tabletop fantasy adventures. It provides ready-to-use options for every skill, allowing narrow failures to become successes when characters accept a cost, while larger failures introduce escalating complications. Natural 20s and natural 1s can trigger additional twists, with guidance on applying the rules during play. The supplement also includes advice on using the system effectively and an examination of the design principles behind it.
