A one-shot GUMSHOE investigation set in Greece in 1948, during the civil war between Communist partisans and the US-backed government and National Army. Investigators search for a missing British archaeologist in the southern Peloponnese, taking the roles of gendarmerie officers, private investigators, or concerned friends. Their investigation leads to one of the most terrifying creatures of Greek folklore. The book also includes a short story by Evangeline Walton, information on the vrykolakas of Greek legend, and a complimentary copy of the low-prep GUMSHOE game Against the Unknown.
