On Veile, young orphans struggle to find a place in society after being denied their birthright and direction in life. The most talented become artisans’ apprentices or vassals to Merchant Princes, while many others are taken by House Gularo and sold into slavery. This adventure places the characters amid Veile’s unequal social order, where they encounter the exploitation carried out by one of its most powerful Houses.
