Set in 2138, the game follows a player trapped in a virtual-reality role-playing world after its service ends. Transformed into a powerful skeletal magic caster, he finds that the familiar game world has become a new, living realm, while the NPCs of the Great Tomb of Nazarick develop emotions and independent identities. The story centers on his efforts to understand this world and pursue its conquest.
