Pocket Madness

2016 · Card Game

Pocket Madness

A fast-paced card game set in a Lovecraftian world where players evoke Ancient Ones and collect madness. Players start with a small hand and a visible row of numbered cards (6–12) from which they draw, then take turns taking 1–3 cards, opening portals, or launching investigations. To open a portal, a player lays down three or more matching-number cards to claim a portal power; portals grant one-use abilities but can be stolen. To open an investigation, a player discards numbered cards and causes all other players to gain madness tokens based on the number of investigations that round. Rounds end when a player empties their hand or the row runs out; the game ends when a player reaches ten or more madness tokens.

Simple and friendly card game with a classic feeling. PROS - The game has tension, and it rewards reading the table correctly. - It is really easy to teach and learn. - It looks pretty cool! CONS - The oversized cards look cool on the table but make the game clunkier to carry with you.
