The first issue of a historical Advanced Squad Leader magazine, featuring articles on World War II actions, game analysis, campaign play, and the development of VASL. It also includes eight scenarios covering engagements from 1940 to 1944 in Europe, North Africa, the Pacific, and the Eastern Front. Scenarios range from fortified companies defending against infantry and armor assaults to attacks on airfields, factories, artillery positions, and road junctions. Forces include German, Russian, American, Italian, Japanese, French, Australian, and British units, with tanks, assault guns, tank destroyers, engineers, and artillery represented across varied historical settings.
