Set in Hōrin-no-Koku, the game follows samurai who awaken with the Yūkondan, a forbidden power known as the Spirit Scorch. The blindfolded Ministry of Silence declares these Ichiryū heretics and seeks to cleanse them, while rumors suggest their blood is tied to the return of the old gods. The setting centers on death-duels, meditation, political persecution, and a buried truth from the Old War.
