A sudden uprising and an approaching Zhodani battlefleet turn an ordinary starport into a war zone. The Travellers must survive attacks from within and without, escape the overrun starport, and race across District 268. Their journey leads to the pivotal Battle of Elixabeth, where their actions shape the opening days of the Fifth Frontier War.
