The Holmes Companion
A fan-made rules expansion for the 1977 D&D Basic Set extends character progression from levels 4 through 9. It supports continued dungeon-crawling play with rules intended to preserve the focused, gritty feel and mechanics of the original system, without requiring the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons rulebooks.
