The Hunters A.D. 2114

Players take on the roles of hunters tracking and destroying hostile machines that roam between human settlements in a post‑apocalyptic landscape. The cooperative game for 1–4 players centers on choosing gear, setting traps, and coordinating tactics across 30–90 minute missions, with a day/night cycle that affects equipment and enemy behavior. Players earn experience to upgrade abilities and salvage machine parts to craft better gear. Missions link into a branching campaign where player decisions carry consequences, creating evolving scenarios and replayable challenges.

Pros: Very atmospheric game. Cool weapon and equipment system. Good story, feels like Shadowrun the Boardgame. Ok minis and overall component quality. Much variation between missions and story. Playing is fun despite the cons. Difficulty scaling in missions for different player counts works great. Cons: Takes far to much table space. Setup and saving/tear down is a pain (best to leave it on the table for a whole campaign). Many spelling, translation and other errors. Combat is too fiddly, especially the several options for defense and the rules for positioning the minis (facing matters for ranged attacks from front, side or back). Difficulty of the missions varies massively and doesn't scale well in the beginning. There's one mission you can easily run into as your first mission without being prepared at all. Later missions can also vary because all enemies have 2 actions each activation while you can only play one reaction per turn. An unlucky dice roll can kill you.
