The League of the Extraordinary Collectors
A detective game about interpreting an unknown language. One player becomes the Oracle, who knows the answers to eight questions about surreal characters but can communicate only through rebus images made from overlapping tiles. The other players act as Investigators, interpreting the symbols, proposing meanings, and using the booklet’s texts and illustrations as referents. Notes, drawings, and guesses form a shared dictionary that develops throughout the eight investigations, gradually creating a symbolic language between the Oracle and the Investigators.
