The NC Skill System
A flexible role-playing skill system allows characters to develop abilities across a wide range of areas, from weaponless combat to cooking, without rigid class-based restrictions. Skills are linked into related groups, allowing broad development while making specialization meaningful. Characters spend experience to learn new skills or improve existing ones. Some skills require an entry roll based on an attribute, while advancement usually depends on practice and specific actions. Mentors can accelerate improvement up to a limited level, and the framework supports adding new skills designed by the referee.
