The Price of Freedom: The American Civil War 1861-1865

A grand-strategic simulation of the American Civil War, covering the Eastern and Western theaters from 1861 to 1865. Players organize corps into armies led by historical commanders, maneuver between key locations, and fight for territory while managing each side’s War Effort. A 55-card system gives both sides choices between spending cards for movement, reorganization, and reinforcement or resolving historical events affecting leadership, battles, politics, economics, and diplomacy. The Union seeks to reduce Confederate resistance or achieve overwhelming numerical superiority, while the Confederacy aims to do the same or survive until political conditions prevent a Union victory.
