This Accursed Civil War

A tactical simulation of mid-17th century English Civil War battles, recreating five historical engagements from 1642–1645. Players command divisions of infantry brigades, cavalry regiments, and artillery batteries arranged into three or four wings; each wing receives an order that constrains its available actions and can be changed only with difficulty. Combat models period tactics such as cavalry charges and pistol skirmishing, infantry salvo fire, advancing and retreating, and artillery grazing fire. Play emphasizes command-and-control and coordination of wing orders, with interactive decision points and scenarios that typically play through in a single session. This reprint adds an updated series rulebook, playbook, an Edgehill variant, and revised counters and aids.
