Players enter Gensokyo, a land where humans, vampires, and spirits from Japanese mythology coexist through the power of belief and fear. Humanity survives under the protection of powerful humans and youkai, while an agreement keeps conflicts between them non-lethal. The game centers on maintaining the balance between the human village and the surrounding supernatural forces, where seemingly playful confrontations can involve formidable powers.
