Tournaments
This military article examines the development of feudal tournaments, from loosely organized mock battles to regulated events shaped by chivalry. It covers the two main forms of competition: the Melee, in which groups of mounted knights fight on a field, and the Joust, a contest between two knights using lance and shield. Rules, marshals, judges, blunted weapons, and the growing emphasis on pageantry and individual skill are also discussed.
