Triomphe à Marengo

A two-player historical simulation of the 14 June 1800 battle in northern Italy. One player commands the Austrians who attack early and pursue, while the other controls the initially scattered French who may receive late reinforcements and counterattack. Play uses wooden blocks and an area movement system to represent units and fog of war, with maneuvers across an open, period-style map. Combat is resolved diceless through a modified, location-based morale system that emphasizes shifting momentum and tension rather than random rolls. Turns are relatively fast, focusing on maneuver, timing of reinforcements, and localized morale effects to decide the battle’s outcome.
