Uncommoners
A collection of ten character backgrounds for adventurers who begin with uncommon occupations in villages, settlements, or cities. Options include apothecary, boat handler, butler, falconer, lamplighter, builder’s apprentice, messenger, sexton, shipwright, and town crier. Each background provides features, personality traits, ideals, bonds, flaws, and story ideas for players and game masters. Characters may retain practical skills from their former work, such as handling boats, tending a trained bird, maintaining a graveyard, or navigating city streets, while developing connections that can lead them into adventure.
